Code of Conduct

The absolute number one rule is of The Maine Drawing Exchange is that the model is the most important person in the room at all times. Their comfort and safety is everyone’s responsibility. They must be treated with complete respect and gratitude. For privacy purposes we do not reveal a model's identity or gender beforehand to artists.

During our sessions we advise artists to:

- Do not direct the model with any guidance at any time.  If you wish you give constructive feedback or criticism about their modeling, we welcome you to bring them to a facilitator or email mainedrawingexchange@gmail.com.

- Absolutely no photography of the model.

- Be mindful of your phone usage while model is disrobed. Absolutely no photography of the model at any point. But please take photos of your work and and share with us on Instagram or email! We always ask the models if they would like to be tagged in drawings of them and announce their handles if so.

- Facilitators occasionally take photographs and videos to document the events. As artists attending our public sessions, you agree to be photographed for our social media purposes.

- Finally, be kind to your fellow artists! Making art is vulnerable. Some may want to share and critique their drawings, others may not. Regardless we are here to encourage and support one another.

The Maine Drawing Exchange is a safe space for all different types of people. Please celebrate and respect that. We have the right to refuse any artist who breaks this code. If you have any questions or concerns please email mainedrawingexchange@gmail.com.

Thank you for being part of what we are doing here.
